Elizabeth Local History and Genealogy
The Local History Collection at the Elizabeth Public Library contains many resources pertaining to the history of Elizabeth and Union County. In addition to a number of informative monographs, the collection includes older city directories, legislative manuals, local school yearbooks, census microfilm reels, newspaper vertical files and much more.
The Reference Department accepts formal written research and obituary requests. The research query should be as specific as possible. We do not search census materials. All obituary requests should include the individual's date of death and town of residence. The fee for this service is $6 plus $1 for every page mailed exceeding six (payable upon receipt of information).
